Centre for Conservation Biology & Sustainable Development (CCBSD) is a non–profit research and education organization. Established in 2007, CCBSD is supported by Medhini Education & Rural Development Trust (MERDT® ) which is based in Sirsi, Uttara Kannada in Karnataka, India. MERDT is a non-profit civil society organization established in 2000 by a few philanthropists. Its prime objective is to work for achieving public good through education and rural development programs.
CCBSD is currently having its only office in Sirsi, Karnataka, India and works under the guidance of well recognized Biologists and development professionals. Presently it is engaged in the activities of education, research & extension and policy advocacy. The core areas that CCBSD engages with are: biodiversity of Western Ghats of peninsular India, restoration ecology, environmental stewardship, medicinal plant studies, integrated & community based natural resource management.
